What we offer
What will working with us look like?
The Initial Assessment
Now that we have spoken to each other, and we have established that we can work together. In the consultation which takes approximately one hour, we will discuss in depth the nature of what we will do. This allows for some time to dispel some myths and misconceptions about hypnosis and hypnotherapy, as well as trying hypnosis. We will also in greater depth discuss what we can do to help you, and work together to establish a treatment plan for you that works for you and will provide details of what we are going to do, when, and the nature of some of the tasks that you may be set before the first session. It also allows for us to get to know each other better, to help ensure that your experience with us is comfortable, enjoyable and suits you.
After the consultation, and between each session, you will be given tasks to complete in your day to day life. These can be as simple as keeping a diary of thoughts but may also be making more specific changes, such as to your routine or how you go about doing a certain thing. They are equally flexible and can be changed or modified as part of your treatment plan in line with your lifestyle and schedule, but are extremely useful in helping your work with us progress. They also give you an opportunity to keep in contact with us by letting us know how the tasks are going, and can help inform us about anything we can tackle in future sessions.
In order to help you get the most out of working with us, we have our own method for arranging and running treatments alongside other therapy. This system is of course flexible because no two people are the same, and so we will do all we can to ensure that each person's experience working with us is as bespoke as possible. This also requires that when working with us, it is important to remember that the therapy will be most effective with considerable willpower, as well as expectancy. This is because evidence suggests that for hypnotherapy to be effective, you need to want to work to be able to achieve the results. Working with Piper Therapy Services will involve not only attending sessions, but also undergoing tasks between those sessions to be able to help make changes to how you do things in your daily environment. Typically, working with us looks like this:
This will be a combination of 2 things. The first will be the relevant forms that you will fill in. These will tell us about yourself, some background information and what it is that you would like to work with us on. The second will be a short assessment meeting, either in person, over the phone or via an internet call software which will follow up these forms to discuss anything else that could be necessary. The initial assessment will tell us if we can offer our services to help you, as well as to inform us as to whether we will be a good fit to work together. It also provides an opportunity to introduce ourselves.
Does what it says on the tin. Here, we will have a session of hypnotherapy, either in person in therapy rooms, over an internet call software, or on special request in the form of a home visit (Additional travel costs may apply distance depending). This will also take approximately one hour, and will be composed of an initial catch up to see how the tasking is going, the hypnotherapy which will typically be an therapeutic technique delivered using hypnosis, and then a conversation in the end to discuss how you thought the session went, as well as outlining the next inter-session task and the nature of the next session based on the treatment plan, and your own preferences (since your experiences may change, or the nature of what you wish to work on may change, fluidity and flexibility regarding the original treatment plan is important). These sessions will also be used to teach you hypnotic skills including self-hypnosis, which you may also be asked to practice at home to improve on your skills that you can equip yourself with for life, and can be used for many things that may come your way.
Sessions will continue, each with tasks in-between. The number of sessions and end will be determined both by the treatment plan, and by the achievement of agreed goals as well as if you feel the need for more.
Following the end of our sessions together, after a period of time I will contact you for a check-in to catch up on how you are doing in terms of what we worked on together. This will usually be after 6 weeks, but may change. On occasion, you may benefit from more long-term check-ins and so there may be multiple, from 6 weeks, to 2 months, 6 months and then 1 and 2 years respectively, however this depends on why we worked together. During these check-ins, we will discuss your progress, how well you have been able to use your self-hypnosis skills, and whether or not you may benefit from additional sessions.
